Our Friends group promotes Canoe Creek State Park’s educational and recreational opportunities by connecting the community to the Park with our events. We host signature events: 1st Day Hike (Jan 1); Summer Movies in the Park (June, July and August); and Mountain Pie Madness in the Fall. Our food pantry is located at 811 Scotch Valley Road in Hollidaysburg. We serve just under 200 families each month, equate about 10 families per day. Our food pantry serves families living in Hollidaysburg, Duncansville, Martinsburg, East Freedom, Roaring Spring and Newry. All others are referred to pantries in their area.

The Altoona Association of Model Railroaders
2930 S 10th Ave, Altoona
Founded in 1949, the Altoona Association of Model Railroaders has two floors of model train layouts. A 22′ x 50′ HO scale layout and a 15′ x 30′ N scale layout. Visitors will also find a library dating back to the 1800’s and a large collection of railroad memorabilia including one of the largest collections of builders’ plates in the area. There is something for every modeler, railfan, and “tag-along” to see! Members generally meet on Friday nights from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, during which we are also open to the public. Saturday evenings are typically also available with notice.
